I adapted this from How To Research by Blaxter, Hughes & Tight, which is a really useful book which I thoroughly recommend for anyone who’s on an academic career path.

Obviously each of these needs to be adapted slightly to your own needs, and expanded upon where necessary, but it’s a good place to start, especially for the social sciences.
